HHS Intends to Delay ICD-10 Compliance Date
2/16/2012 - It was announced in a press release by Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services, that the compliance date for ICD-10 will be pushed back to a date that is, as of yet, unspecified. ICD-10 refers to the International Classification of Diseases, 10th edition diagnosis and procedure codes.
Originally set to be implemented on October 1st, 2013, the date of required compliance has been pushed back in part due to President Obama’s pledge to reduce regulatory burden on health care organizations. We are monitoring the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) website regarding this issue and will continue to provide updates with any further information or announcements.
